2nd half of Trig Test tomorrow!

  • I'd practice doing the odd word problems in section 8.5 since the answers are located where? yes, in the back of the book! you can check your answers immediately to see if you understand because tomorrow's 2nd half of the Trig Test will look like these word problems

  • of course, you can practice doing the word problems of the HW you've completed in the PDFs we have done for more practice, too!

  • please come into class READY to work (come in. sit down. get pencil, highlighter, and calculator out) as time will be scarce since tomorrow's tests are 2-80 minute sessions as opposed to the 2-70 minute sessions you took today. when the bell rings, you want to be READY for battle!

Flashcards w Mommy and Daddy

Right Triangle Pre Test

  • 3 times

  • 1 time = 45 problems

  • 45 problems times 3 times = 135 problems

  • 135 problems divided by 10 evenings = 13.5 problems a day

  • totally do-able

  • you will have the Right Triangle Test on Monday when we return from break so please please please do not come back clueless

  • do not do all of these problems in one sitting

  • i want you to do 13.5 problems a day for 10 days

  • that way, you will keep your skills sharp

  • i'd prefer that you don't go a day without doing some math problems because you guys know you forget stuff in 24 hours BUT if you do 13.5 problems a day, you won't give yourself time to forget anything

  • don't forget to obtain time stamp signatures everyday

  • don't forget to update your flashcards w mommy and daddy chart (i will only require 5 signatures here instead of 10)

  • Also, I'd STRONGLY advise you to redo some Trigonometry word problems from 13.1, 13.3, and 13.4 PDFs because you guys will come back from break and do the other side of the Trig Test (remember, you only did 1-14 today)

  • If you want more practice word problems, then do the word problems found in your book for 8.5 (STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!!!!)

HELP ME HOWARD

  • FYI...my interview is supposed to air on Monday night on Ch. 7 at 10:30 pm (or Tuesday morning or Tuesday afternoon...)

Website Acknowledgement Form (you are turning this in for 10 points tomorrow)

  • on a piece of paper, write the following statement:

  • I am aware that the daily HW assignments can be found at msichan.com. I will use the information found there to verify that _________________ (insert child's name here) has completed the homework before I sign off on it. I am aware that the answers to the odd problems in the Geometry Honors book are located in the back of the book. Therefore, ___________________ (insert child's name here) should check his/her answers and prepare a list of questions to ask in class tomorrow.

  • Print Parent Name

  • Parent Signture

Time Stamp Signature

  • next to your heading, please write down the start and end time of when you complete your HW. Then obtain a parent signature verifying that you have completed the HW assignment and checked all the odd problems if any were given. This will be a daily occurrence.

Flashcards

  • don't forget to spend some time reviewing your flashcards for Ch 8

  • make sure you get a parent signature!

13.3 PDF

  • (1-16) all

  • Some problems got cut off during the scanning process. The following is what you will need to know for each problem that got cut off:

  • #12: Archaeologist Ertha Diggs is using an angle measuring device to determine the height of an ancient temple. When she views the top of the temple through her device, she records a thirty-seven degree angle up from the horizontal. She is standing 130 meters from the center of the temple's base, and her eye is 1.5 meters above the ground. To the nearest tenth of a meter, how tall is the temple?

  • #15: Alphonse is directly over the 2500-meter landing strip in his hot air balloon (point A) and is observed at one end of the strip by Beatrice (point B) with an angle of elevation measuring 39 degrees. Meanwhile, at the other end of the strip, Collette (point C) observes the balloon with an angle of elevation of 62 degrees. What is the distance btwn Alphonse and Beatrice? How high up is Alphonse when he is observed? (I know that I haven't gone over angles of elevation and depression yet so just have this problem written down so that I can use it to teach with tomorrow.)

  • #16: A tree is growing vertically on a hillside that is at a 16 degree angle to the horizontal. The tree casts a shadow 18m long up from the slope. If the angle of elevation of the sum measures 68 degrees, how tall is the tree? (Once again, please have this written or printed out so that I can use it to teach with in tomorrow's class)

10.4 PDF

  • Investigation 10.4.1 (1-15) all

  • Investigation 10.4.2 (we did this in class today so you should know the theorem that begins with, "If a triangle is a 45-45-90 triangle and a leg measures x, then......"

  • Investigation 10.4.4 (we did 1-6 out loud in class today. We learned that in a 30-60-90 triangle, if the short leg measures x, then the hypotenuse measures ?)

  • Complete Investigation 10.4.4 (7-12) by using the previous bullet point's theorem AND the Pythagorean Theorem to solve for the missing third side. When you are done, you should be able to complete the following theorem: In a 30-60-90 triangle, if the short leg measures x, then the long leg measures ? and the hypotenuse measures ?
